Veronica, RDH

My name is Veronica.  I have been in the dental field for the past 16 years.  After graduating from high school and working a few minimum wage jobs, I quickly decided it was time to go back to school.  In the Spring of 1995, I graduated from High Tech Institute and successfully passed my written and practical exam for my RDA.  I worked full time as a Registered Dental Assistant, while taking my pre-requisites for dental hygiene school.  In early 1998, my sister, who was working for my father at the time, was heading up a tenant improvement for a well established dental firm in Roseville.  The office, Personalized Dental Care, was opening up their second Roseville location at Foothills and Baseline in the Brickyard Shopping Center.  She worked closely with Dr. Herman and mentioned briefly that her sister, me, was a dental assistant.  Dr. Herman was impressed with my sister’s enthusiasm and work ethic and mentioned that, if by chance I were anything like her, he would love to have me apply for a position.  With the new office being built, they were looking for more team members; I interviewed with PDC shortly after.  In May of 1998 I became a full time employee of Personalized Dental Care. In the four and half years working there, prior to me leaving to attend dental hygiene school, I worked closely with Dr. Angel and Dr. Coffelt, our two gum specialists at the time.  I also worked with Dr. Gianetti, our orthodontist. I was very thankful to have the opportunity to be trained in these areas as well as general dentistry.  It was very fun and it kept things interesting while simultaneously broadening my knowledge in the field of dentistry.  Also, the time spent working in the gum specialty, further prepared me for my upcoming adventure in dental hygiene school. In August of 2002, I left PDC to go to dental hygiene school in Taft, CA.  During the break between my first and second year in school, I returned home and was able to work as an RDA for the summer months.  In June 2004, upon graduating from Taft College, I again, returned to PDC and worked as an RDA while awaiting the results of the State licensing exam. In August of 2004 the news came in, it was official; I had successfully passed both my written and practical exam and was now licensed to practice dental hygiene. I have been practicing here at PDC ever since.  I am very fortunate to have worked and currently work, with some amazing people.  Some of which continue to play an important role in my professional career, helping to form the person who I am now and still hope to be.  These memories and friendships will forever be a part of me, and I am truly blessed to have experienced it.
